A comprehensive guide to Xi'an Museum, a modern institution showcasing Xi'an's history.
Xi'an Museum (西安博物馆) is a modern museum showcasing the history of Xi'an through multimedia exhibits and archaeological artifacts. Located in the Qujiang District near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the museum features interactive displays covering the city's evolution from ancient Chang'an to the modern metropolis. It provides a more contemporary and interactive experience compared to the traditional Shaanxi History Museum.
The museum's main exhibition 'Ancient Xi'an' traces the city's 3,000-year history, from its founding as Fenggao during the Zhou Dynasty to its glory days as Chang'an, the capital of 13 dynasties. The exhibition uses multimedia technology, holographic displays, and interactive touchscreens to bring history to life. The Silk Road gallery is particularly impressive, showcasing Xi'an's role as the eastern terminus of the ancient trade route.
